The Plamondon MODIFIED Mixed Curling Bonspiel is February 24, 25, 26, 2017. Entry Fee (Includes banquet): $200.00 per team. Youth teams are encouraged to join as well. Big Dog 103.5 is proud to be the media sponsor of the Winter Festival of Speed - February 25th and 26th! Cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles AND quads race across the ice! This family-friendly event features sleigh rides, public skating, Axe-throwing, concessions, the best racers in the region vying for the title of ‘Western Canadian Champion,’ and Canada’s only ‘Ice Fly In’! Admission is forty dollars a car load or 10 dollars per person with proceeds going to community organizations. Details at classicwheels.org! The Kinsmen of Lac La Biche present the 11th Annual Mini-Heritage Hockey Classic March 4th! The Kinsmen have built 8 pro-rated rinks for kids age 5 to 12, to play hockey for the pure fun of it! There are no boards or blue lines, just a goal at each end! Games are three 20 minute straight time periods, with ice cleaning after each game! Come cheer on all the teams from across Alberta as they play to be the 2017 Pond Hockey champions! The 11th annual Mini heritage hockey classic, Saturday, March 4 starting at 8:30am... in partnership with Lac La Biche County, Lac La Biche Region and Community Futures.

Big Brothers Big Sisters 13th Annual Bowl for Kids event is happening March 18th at the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley. Community challenge goes noon-3, and the corporate challenge is 5-10pm. To register a team and pick up pledge forms contact Kristen at 780-623-0380. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a large community based event which raises money for Big Brothers Big Sisters programming in the community of Lac La Biche. They are looking for teams of 4 to participate and raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters. All money raised in the community stays in the community. APR 1

The Metis Ladies in Red Fashion Show will be honouring the missing and murdered women of Lac La Biche, reserves, and settlements, April 1, 2017 at the Devon Room at the Bold Center.

Vendors open at 9am. There will be a silent auction, inspirational/elder prayers, 50/50 ball draws, concession, and smudging. For the youth – make-up artists, tattoo artists, Metis artists and comedians. They will also be promoting the Voices of the Cree Daycare with a Cree clothing line such as t-shirts, sweat pants, and Metis clothing.

The fashion show goes from 1 to 5:30pm. There will also be a banquet with Metis Cuisine from 6:30-9:30pm. A comedy show will also happen featuring local amateur comedians and comedian Conway K. Kootenay.

Corey Ann Pruden, in memory of her missing and murdered family members has made one dress. They invite and encourage each community to create a dress to be modeled in honor and in memory for each and every loved one.

Proceeds go to the construction of Voices of the Cree Languarge daycare for children 6 months to 6 years. It’s to commemorate the legacy of Veronica Morin, the first Kikino settler.

FREE public skating being sponsored by the Plamondon Co-op AT the Plamondon Arena. Every Sunday afternoon from 3:15-4:45 They’re giving back to the community with an outlet of something to enjoy with family and friends on the weekend. Just make sure to follow arena rules!
