11 Scouts from the Lac La Biche Troop are going to represent us at the Canadian Scout Jamboree in July in Nova Scotia! In order to raise money to send these youth to the Jamboree, there is a bottle drive on the go on Saturday, January 28. They need to raise a ton of money (over $2000 per attendee) through various fundraisers, including this one. The Metis Ladies in Red Fashion Show will be honouring the missing and murdered women of Lac La Biche, reserves, and settlements, February 18, 2017 at the Devon Room at the Bold Center.
Vendors open at 9am. There will be a silent auction, inspirational/elder prayers, 50/50 ball draws, concession, and smudging. For the youth – make-up artists, tattoo artists, Metis artists and comedians. They will also be promoting the Voices of the Cree Daycare with a Cree clothing line such as t-shirts, sweat pants, and Metis clothing.
The fashion show goes from 1 to 5:30pm. There will also be a banquet with Metis Cuisine from 6:30-9:30pm. A comedy show will also happen featuring local amateur comedians and comedian Conway K. Kootenay.
Corey Ann Pruden, in memory of her missing and murdered family members has made one dress. They invite and encourage each community to create a dress to be modeled in honor and in memory for each and every loved one.
Proceeds go to the construction of Voices of the Cree Languarge daycare for children 6 months to 6 years. It’s to commemorate the legacy of Veronica Morin, the first Kikino settler.

Big Brothers Big Sisters 13th Annual Bowl for Kids event is happening March 18th at the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley. Community challenge goes noon-3, and the corporate challenge is 5-10pm. To register a team and pick up pledge forms contact Kristen at 780-623-0380. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a large community based event which raises money for Big Brothers Big Sisters programming in the community of Lac La Biche.
